Decking in the South West is not a local affair. Holiday parks stretch from the surf camps of Newquay to the Wiltshire Cotswolds, and park operators expect the same precision, the same finish, and the same turnaround wherever their sites happen to be. Last summer, we delivered projects across five counties — Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire — in a rolling programme that kept our team on the road from dawn until dark.
The Scale of a Busy Season
From woodland retreats to coastal holiday parks, each site had its own character and its own challenges. In Cornwall we worked on lodges at Killigarth Holiday Park on the rugged south coast, where the granite soil and coastal gradient demanded solid groundwork before a single board could be laid. In Devon, we were back at Finlake Holiday Resort — a site we know well — completing decks right up to the summer rush. Further east, Somerset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire gave us flat agricultural land and a very different planning context, where speed and uniformity mattered most to park operators bringing fleets of new units online.
What Makes Multi-Site Delivery Work
Running projects across five counties simultaneously is a logistical challenge. Material orders have to be batched, delivery windows coordinated, and team schedules aligned so that no site stalls waiting for boards that are still on a lorry two counties away. Every project manager in our team is experienced enough to make independent decisions on site — adjusting subframe depths for unexpected ground conditions, problem-solving access restrictions without escalating everything back to base.
- Pre-survey every site before ordering materials — ground conditions vary enormously across the region
- Carry a buffer stock of the most popular board colours (Hampton brown, charcoal grey, anthracite) to prevent delays
- One dedicated team leader per site who owns the quality sign-off
- Photograph every stage for the client record and for our own quality assurance
Coastal Sites vs Inland Sites
The South West coastline is one of the most corrosive environments in the UK. Salt-laden air accelerates the degradation of untreated timber and certain metals, which is why we specify marine-grade stainless steel fixings and composite or PVC boards for any installation within a mile of the sea. Inland sites — particularly the Wiltshire and Gloucestershire parks we visited — can use a wider range of materials, including treated softwood frames, because the atmosphere is significantly less aggressive.
Holiday Park Operators: What to Expect from Us
We've worked with some of the biggest names in UK holiday park management — Park Holidays UK, Haulfryn, Great Escape Parks, Lovat Parks, Away Resorts and others. What each of them has in common is an expectation of zero-defect delivery on a fixed timeline. Units need to be habitable before the rental season opens, and any delay costs the operator real money. We take that seriously. When Devon Hills called us in to complete eight decks in two weeks ahead of the summer peak, we delivered — on time, to standard, without shortcuts.
"Well done to you and the team. Fantastic work! You guys have smashed it!"
Planning for 2026 and Beyond
Our coverage is expanding. We are now taking enquiries for commercial projects across the South West and into south-east England. If you manage a holiday park, lodge development or commercial property and need decking installed at scale — or if you simply want a bespoke residential deck in Devon, Somerset or Cornwall — the process starts with a free site survey carried out by one of our founding partners.
